The Archive

25 08 2008

Thanks to the AP for the heads up on this short doc by Sean Dunne.  It tells the tale of the largest record collection in the world. The collection is valued at 50 million, he’s asking for 3 million. No serious buyers have been found.

Absinthe Films presents Ready

21 08 2008

This is some of the best board footage I’ve ever seen. The Sphere of Influence Tour will roll through Vancouver on September 3rd with a screening at the Ridge Theatre.  Here’s the trailer.

Red Camera Test - Skate Video

Yet another example of technology pushing an art form forward. Makes me miss Paris.

Interesting Vancouver 2008

27 07 2008

Interesting Vancouver is an unconference that I will be helping to hype and maybe even speak at, if I can get my act together.  The premise is to hold a super relaxed conference where speakers are invited to speak for 20 minutes or 3 minutes on any topic they’re interested in, passionate about or super knowledgeable about.

It’ll take place on October 24th at the Vancouver Rowing Club and only cost $25. This will be one of those events that will make you proud to live in the cultural mix of Vancouver.

Adding Tweeter Feeds

26 07 2008

It’s official. I’m adopting all things Twitter. Now that I have some regular contributors to follow I’m starting to see the value of Twitter.
I’ve added Twitter Berry for the BB and Twitter Feeds which automatically feeds my blog posts to my Twitter.
Now you can follow this blog, DailyJim (my photoblog), Corporate Hipster and I Am User Generated (my academic blog) on my Twitter. Activate the mobile notification option on Twitter and you’ll get these updates as text messages.
Is this cross-platforming getting creepy?

Computer Tan

26 07 2008

Working full-time and writing my Masters at the same time means that my summer is passing me by. It also means that I’ve got a killer computer tan.

Girl Talk in Vancouver at the Commodore

26 07 2008

Yup as expected Girl Talk threw the best party of the summer. Forget Pemberton, ya’ll should have been at the Commodore to see the cut and paste king (sorry Diplo) mash-up a record number of tracks keeping the ADD cocaine fueled crowd bouncing the whole time.
Check out new album here.
Some video I shot of the madness. My fresh white steps are wrecked now from being trampled on stage. I regret nothing.

Don’t know this girl, but I respect the fact that she rocks a Holga. I’m a little ashamed that I shot this with my tiny digital.

Converse Cool

21 07 2008

How can your brand not be cool if you associate yourself with N.E.R.D. and Santogold? Time to dust off the old steps and support the original Chuck Taylor movement.

Radiohead Has Done It Again

21 07 2008

I have no idea how this technique was achieved. It really flows well with the mind bending nature of the song. Well played yet again.
