Yet another example of technology pushing an art form forward. Makes me miss Paris.

Interesting Vancouver is an unconference that I will be helping to hype and maybe even speak at, if I can get my act together. The premise is to hold a super relaxed conference where speakers are invited to speak for 20 minutes or 3 minutes on any topic they’re interested in, passionate about or super knowledgeable about.
It’ll take place on October 24th at the Vancouver Rowing Club and only cost $25. This will be one of those events that will make you proud to live in the cultural mix of Vancouver.
Explanation from main event organizer:
Hope to see you there. More details to follow.
I’m completely blown away by the way this man’s mind works. This connection between art, nature and science is truly amazing. Thanks Jess for the tip.
I’ve been collecting old cameras perhaps as a reaction to my increased penetration into the digital and virtual world. I was truly touched but the photographic story of the life of Jaime Livingston who took a polaroid picture everyday for close to 18 years. The analogue aesthetic is a real treat. This video explains a little about the film and the camera.
Some of my analogue shots can be seen on my photo blog DailyJim.com

The creative individual has the capacity to free himself from the web of social pressures in which the rest of us are caught. He is capable of questioning the assumptions that the rest of us accept.
~John W. Gardner
I’ve been thinking a lot about what makes someone an artist. Is it the tools they use? Is it how they make their living? Is it their mindset? I like this quote because it opens the role of creativity to a wider audience, not just artists.
The only reason we’re all not more creative is the fear of man, which stops us from questioning.
I’m not too sure what category to put this under, but it was just so original and cool that I had to post it.
A group of 200 people freeze in Grand Central Station ala freeze tag. Watch the bewilderment of the masses passing through.
I’m loving this idea for a flickr pool. Here’s the blog too.
For all of you how are asking where I’ve been these days, the simple answer is, working on the final semester of my masters thesis. I’m really excited about my research and the discoveries I’ve been making. I’ve been trying to establish a new language for social media storytelling, which has led me to do tons of research into the work of Marshall Mcluhan, Walter Ong and Eric Havelock. I’ve written a ten part series on the connection between orality and social media storytelling over on my thesis blog: i am user generated.
Comments and crits are always welcome, preferably over beers somewhere.
