Thanks to the AP for the heads up on this short doc by Sean Dunne. It tells the tale of the largest record collection in the world. The collection is valued at 50 million, he’s asking for 3 million. No serious buyers have been found.
This is some of the best board footage I’ve ever seen. The Sphere of Influence Tour will roll through Vancouver on September 3rd with a screening at the Ridge Theatre. Here’s the trailer.
Interesting Vancouver is an unconference that I will be helping to hype and maybe even speak at, if I can get my act together. The premise is to hold a super relaxed conference where speakers are invited to speak for 20 minutes or 3 minutes on any topic they’re interested in, passionate about or super knowledgeable about.
It’ll take place on October 24th at the Vancouver Rowing Club and only cost $25. This will be one of those events that will make you proud to live in the cultural mix of Vancouver.
I haven’t seen a movie in ages, so it was a real treat to see ET outdoors in my own backyard. Fresh Air Cinema treated us Yaletowners to a free screening of Speilberg’s classic film. I loved the unabashed product placement that typified this era of filmmaking, but the best part was lying in the grass on a warm night with False Creek flowing in the background. Yes it’s true, I like living in Vancouver again.
Are you a Corporate Hipster? If you are you should join my newly launched niche social network for people that have a job they care about but still go out and see films, shows, art opening etc. Check it out…
I got talking about my love for machinima today with some co-workers and thought some of my faithful blog readers might enjoy a little dose. Basically machinima is an alternative form of cinema where users use 3-D computer characters within video games to make animated movies.
